An economic crisis brings unemployed Nada [Roddy Piper] to L.A. in search of work. What he finds instead is that the ruling elite of the world are aliens in disguise, their aim being to keep humans in a state of mindless consumerism. His discovery comes when he dons a pair of special sunglasses made by a resistance group and sees for the first time reality unadorned. Billboards, store signs and magazine covers all bear subliminal messages to OBEY, to CONSUME, to have NO INDEPENDENT THOUGHT. Money itself says THIS IS YOUR GOD. But worst of all, with these glasses you see which of us are the hideous aliens.

The Royal Improvisers Orchestra involves approximately 20 musicians from all over the world and from all kind of backgrounds - classical, jazz, baroque, composers and graphic artists. The Orchestra works with a conducting technique that Yedo Gibson has been developing together with the orchestra after his contact with the London Improvisers Orchestra.

Like all of screenwriter Robbe-Grillet's stories this one is also a puzzle: The protagonist [Giorgio Albertazzi] meets a woman [the brilliant Delphine Seyrig] in his hotel. He remembers meeting her the year before in Marienbad, but she remembers nothing of it. The inquiry becomes a reflection on memory, and also an experiment in entangling the dimensions of past, present and future. This is a film which is gorgeous to look at, with a kind of cold dreamlike geometry and with wonderful tracking shots which reveal more than any dialogue could possibly covey.One of the most influential works all time.

ALICE IN THE CITIES
Directed by Wim Wenders, Germany, 1974.
Largely unknown and really difficult to ever see because it is extremely rarely ever shown outside Germany, this film shines like a rough diamond. What is the story? A photo-journalist suddenly finds himself stuck with a little girl and he has no idea what happened to the mother. Together they go traveling through the East coast of America, and then back to Europe. If I remember right they even pass through Amsterdam! This film is the first in Wender's road movies that he made his name on. This is cinema that is fresh, connected to life itself and not filtered through the so-called brains of a thousand businessmen before it hits the screen! For my vote this is the best film Wenders ever made.....

WHITE ZOMBIE

The very first zombie movie ever made. In the 30s and 40s, zombies and voodoo kind of rituals always walked hand in hand. As a result of this early zombie movies have a certain creepy atmosphere and scary voodoo sound effects. Bela Lugosi is fantastic as a sort of witch doctor and "king of the zombies". A really unique forgotten horror masterpiece.

ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST
Directed by Marino Girolami, Italy, 1980.
The members of an expedition in search for the last faithful of Kito, the cannibal god, land on a small island and are soon hunted by cannibals and zombies created by a sinister Doctor O'Brien who is experimenting with corpses. Suzan, a sexy lady in the expedition team, eventually takes a hold on things, as she is accepted as queen of the cannibals, and directs them against the mad scientist and his army of zombies.

The earlier work of David Cronenberg, with the whole concept of body-horror has had quite a influence on the recent French and Spanish cinema, a new movement called THE NEW EUROPEAN EXTREME. Starting at the turn of the century, it has constantly been building and now has reached a crisis level, especially with this shocker that we will screen this evening just before Halloween. The Americans have been trying to knock people out with films like SAW or HOSTEL, but the Europeans have a sense of atmosphere and creativity which makes its provocation far more profound meaningful. Tonight's film, which has made scandals everywhere it has been screened is a perfect example. Starring the wonderful Beatrice Dalle [Betty Blue].

Dirty D.IS.KO comes from the Amsterdam electro/IDM scene where he used to be the leading man within the Headroom NL collective. For DUBCHAMBER he will be showing of his DJ skills with an alternative selection of dark and deep dubstep.
